Lateral Officers

The Enterprise Police Department accepts applications from Alabama POST certified (APOSTC) Officers to join our team on a continuous basis. APOSTC officers are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Out-of-state POST certified officers with a minimum of two years' experience are also encouraged to apply. Qualifying out-of-state applicants will be required to attend a three-week lateral training course at an Alabama Police Academy. 
Qualifying applicants will be contacted by department personnel to schedule an oral board interview. 

The typical hiring process consists of the following steps:

Step 1. Apply
Step 2. Oral Board Interview
Step 3. Personal History Questionnaire
Step 4. Background Investigation, Psychological Evaluation, & Polygraph Examination
Step 5. Medical Examination (required for out-of-state POST applicants)

2-3 Years         $41,315.39
3-5 Years         $42,429.23
5-7 Years         $43,587.62
7-10 Years        $44,790.57
10+  Years         $46,038.07
